Literacy drive: Rajiv Vidya Mission Project Officer K. Ramesh Kumar addressing children of migrant labourers at a worksite school in Kadapa on Thursday. KADAPA: Rajiv Vidya Mission Project Officer K. Ramesh Kumar inaugurated a worksite school for 132 children of hut-dwelling migrant construction labourers working near Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences at Putlampalle here on Thursday. Addressing labourers and their children near the school which commenced in a temporary structure, Mr. Ramesh Kumar said children of migrant construction labourers coming from Prakasam, Krishna, Srikakulam, Mahabubnagar and Anantapur districts were loitering for want of educational facilities. The school was meant to impart basic education to them. He thanked Manager of Tracks and Towers Infratel D. Sitaram for extending cooperation in setting up the school. He assured mid-day meals, snacks in the mornings and evenings and supply of books and slates to children enrolling in the school aligned to the residential bridge centre at Buddayapalle. Child Labour Eradication Project Coordinator C.V. Sudhakar said mobilisation teams were enrolling dropouts from 12 schools in Kadapa town.
