SANGAREDDY: Though Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president may be on cloud nine for his success in forging a grand alliance including major political forces like CPI, CPM and TRS, the leaders of the same party were worried over their future in the Medak district. For the local TD leaders there is a problem in the prospect of putting together of a winning grand alliance. They fear that the sacrifices any electoral alliance would invariably involve may hit TD more in the district. In other words, TD leaders in the district fear that TD may be forced to do one-sided sacrifices. For instance, take the case of CPI, which had once represented the Narsapur assembly segment. It has already prepared ground for reclaiming the seat and likely to press for allocating it for CPI in the seat-sharing arrangement. On the other hand, the CPM with its strong presence in Sangareddy and Patancheru, was preparing to contest from both the assembly seats and it may settle for one, but not less than that. Meanwhile, the TRS is believed to be bent on getting as many seats as possible for itself with its better bargaining power is feared to be eyeing on at least 6 seats in the district.. The fact that this is TRS’s President K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s home district is also adding to the anxiety of the TD leaders. The statment by Naidu when he urged the party cadres ‘get ready for sacrifices’ has proved to be demoralising.
