THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has directed District Collectors to take steps for the distribution of existing stocks of petroleum products in view of the shortage being experienced in various parts of the State. Civil Supplies Secretary K.R. Jyothilal told The Hindu that stocks needed for two to seven days were available at various centres. The Collectors would take steps to ensure their movement as the officers who were to release stocks were on strike. Mr. Jyothilal said priority would be given to supply of diesel for KSRTC services. Supplies would be maintained at Sabarimala also on a priority basis. Official sources could not assure whether there would be supplies in various petrol pumps on Friday.
