Afsal’s brace lifts GVR

ALUVA: Afsal scored two goals as Thiruvananthapuram’s G.V. Raja Sports School defeated Government Vocational HSS (Thrikkaripur) 3-2 and entered the quarterfinals of the Mar Athanasious Trophy all-India schools football tournament at the Municipal Stadium here on Thursday.

Afsal’s strikes came in the 57th and 68th minutes. Anil Kumar had given G.V. Raja the lead in the ninth minute.

Sarigesh (13th min) and Fazil (69th) netted the Thrikkaripur side’s goals. — Principal Correspondent
