Battered: The Kumaragiri Road in Salem. SALEM: Kumaragiri Road in Ward 39 in the city is in shatters. The residents, a majority of them weavers, say that the road is a vital link to Ammapet and Udayapatti bypass and used by hundreds of school children and office-goers. The road has been neglected for long and despite repeated appeals no step has been taken up so far. They also say that the road abutting the Kumaragiri Lake is also an important thoroughfare for pilgrims going to Ammapet Sri Mariamman Temple and Kumaragiri Hill temple. “At festivals times, the entire road gets chocked and those who ride on two-wheelers and motor cycles often fall.” The residents say that they have even approached the civic body to plug the potholes and craters as a temporary measure. They urge the Salem Corporation to re-lay their road immediately.
