Valentina beats Kyra
CHANDIGARH: Valentina Starkova of Kazakhstan defeated the second-seeded Kyra Shroff in three sets to clinch the girls’ title in the ITF grade ‘III’ junior tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex here on Friday.
There was not much luck for Kyra in the doubles final as well, as she in partnership with Rashmi Teltumbe failed to win a set.
There was, however, some cheer for the Indian camp as the Sood brothers, Lakshit and Chandril, clinched the boys doubles title.
The results (finals): Boys: Laurant Oliver Daxhelet (Bel) bt Yoannis Hilelis (Fra) 6-1, 6-0. Doubles: Lakshit Sood and Chandril Sood bt Jeroen Claeys (Bel) and Jeroen Benard (Ned) 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.
Girls: Valentina Starkova (Kaz) bt Kyra Shroff 3-6, 6-2, 6-0. Doubles: Melis Sezer (Tur) and Sachie Ishizu (Jpn) bt Kyra Shroff and Rashmi Teltumbe 6-3, 6-3.
