Landlord shot at, injured

Bangalore: A cooking contractor was injured when an agricultural scientist, his tenant, allegedly opened fire on him following a scuffle over vacating the house.

The Tavarekere police arrested the accused P.V. Acharya (50) on Friday. The house owner B.S. Mallesh sustained bullet injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital near Tavarekere. The incident took place near Omkar Ashram at Herohalli on Tunga Road near Tavarekere around 9.45 p.m. on Thursday.

The police recovered one 0.35 mm revolver and six live bullets from the accused. The accused had taken the victim’s house on lease since last three years, and the lease period was to have expired on January 14, 2009. Mallesh who planned to renovate the house requested the accused to vacate. The two had an altercation over this issue on Thursday night.

Boy returned to parents

The city police returned Ankush (7), the boy kidnapped from the city and found in Hyderabad, to his parents on Friday and arrested his two maternal uncles, Krishna (35) and Mohan (30), accused of kidnapping the child.

The police said the two men, both autorickshaw drivers, kidnapped the boy from Magadi Road here on December 30, 2008.Ankush, the son of auto driver Lakshmana and Saraswathi, was kidnapped from school. A Rs. 3 lakh ransom was sought by the accused.
