SANGAREDDY: Are you worried about viewing the message on your small mobile screen? Wait for some time. You will be able to pull the screen out of the mobile, read the message and push it back. The technology would be available in the market soon. Disclosing these details at lecture on ‘Nano Electronics’ held at Tara Degree College on Friday, Prof. M. Ramagopala Rao, IIT, Mumbai, said that future technology is the foldable technology that would allow most of the materials to fold for the required size after using it. Stating that nano technology would be giving the advantage of re-arrangement of atom, Mr. Ramagopala Rao said that the ancient Indian medicos treating the patients with Bhasmams (a powder like material) in Ayurvedic system also used the Nano particles without knowing that they were using it. “A study is on about the medicinal advantage of these bhasmas as it was so far used only with tradition,” he said. Informing it would take some more time to understand the complete advantages of nano technology; the IIT professor said that scratch-free paints and stain-resistant fabric are some of the advantages that are made available with the use of nano technology so far. Scientists also developed water-resistant material using this technology which is being used to replace wipers on the front glass of any car. Currently, the IIT Mumbai has been working on two instruments that use the nano technology. The first one is a chip that would diagnose the future risk of having heart attack by a person analysing the blood sample. The chip development was almost complete and it has yet to undergo filed tests. The second one is Electronic Dog Nose that would sniff out the material like that of RDX. According to Ramagopala Rao this would be useful to pre-empt the moves of terrorists. The other instrument that was developed by the IIT was Silicon Locket, which will take care of a cardiac patient in the absence of a doctor and pass on the message on the condition of patient to the doctor. The instrument was ready for marketing.
