Setting the tone: Participants busy adding colours to the rangoli at a Mutyalamuggu competition organised by Shriram Chits at Nalanda Talent School in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. VISAKHAPATNAM: Women, young and old, actively participated in a rangoli competition ‘Mutyalamuggu’ organised by Shriram Chits at Nalanda Talent School, on the eve of Sankranti festival, on Saturday. Each of the 70 contestants were seen patiently working on a six feet by six feet square box earmarked for them on the school quadrangle for nearly three hours to produce colourful rangolis which are synonymous with Sankranti festival. They used chalk and colour powders in full view of a panel of judges comprising the former city Mayor Rajana Ramani, principal of Vizag Defence Academy V. Usha Rani and branch head of Infant Jesus Educational Consultants Usha Reddy. N. Santi, P. Madhumita and V. Sunila won the first, second and third prizes in the contest. VDA director V. Ganesh Kumar gave away the prizes to the winners and participants. Assistant General Manager of Shriram Chits E. Nagendra said that the final contestants of 70 were short listed from among 200 entries for Saturday’s final. Divisional Manager L. Venkata Krishna and branch manager of Maharanipeta Karim were present.
