HYDERABAD: The University of Hyderabad and the Truth Labs will be conducting a one-year PG diploma in criminal justice and forensic sciences from March 2009. This was announced at a two-day national workshop on ‘The Art and Science of Polygraph’ organised jointly by the University of Hyderabad and Truth Labs on Friday. Inaugurating the workshop, K. Koshy, Director-General, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR & D), emphasised the need for using advanced scientific and technological tools by the police to meet the growing demands and challenges of crime and terrorism. Mr. Koshy said that BPR & D was keen on providing training to the police up to the grassroot level in the latest advancements in forensic science and criminal investigation. Seyed E. Hasnain, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad expressed his desire to conduct more public awareness programmes on the potential of new branches in forensic sciences like polygraph, DNA finger printing, Cyber-forensics etc. The workshop is being headed by Tali-Ul-Haq, a former professor of Forensic Science at the University of California. Several police, judicial, forensic science experts, legal and financial experts participated in the workshop, a press release issued here stated.
