KOCHI: Three years ago, Manipur’s Mohammed Washeef Ali, who was Tomba Singh earlier, was sent by his parents to Kerala to study Islam. When he joined the JDT Islam School in Kozhikode, he took a fancy for athletics On Saturday, Washeef led Kerala to the u-14 400m relay gold in the 54th National schools athletics championship here. Kerala is now headed for its biggest-ever victory in the championship. S. Nikhil, Jijin Vijayan, Amal George, Bineesh K. Shaji) 43.19s. Triple jump: Ankit Sharma (Del) 14.46m. Pole vault: Parmendra (Vidya Bharaty) 4.20m NMR, OR Shiv Bahadur (Mah) 4.13, 2007.
