BHUBANESWAR: Internationally-acclaimed technocrat Sanak Mishra has been conferred the coveted Distinguished Alumni Award from the Council of the Indian Institute of Sciences and the Alumni Association of the Indian Institute of Sciences at Bangalore recently. The award was specially presented during the council’s centenary year celebrations for Dr. Mishra’s pioneering contribution to engineering, technology and industry, a release said. Presently the Chief Executive Officer of the Arcelor Mittal - world’s largest steel producer – for its India Greenfield Projects, Dr. Mishra is best remembered for his reformations as the Managing Director of the Rourkela Steel Plant. Graduating as a gold medallist from the prestigious Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Dr. Mishra had also emerged as the gold medallist from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He has his doctorate from the University of Illinois. Among the scores of coveted honours conferred on him for his significant contribution to engineering, technology and industry, he has been the recipient of the National Metallurgists Award from the Government of India.
