“Bail out sick units”

CHENNAI: Micro, small and medium enterprises have urged the Centre and State government to bail out sick units from the current crisis.

A majority of small-scale units in the State are sick. Unless the governments and banks come to their rescue, their future is bleak, according to V.S. Narasimhan, All-India Micro Agro Rural and Small Industries Association national president.

He told reporters here recently that in the past, most nationalised banks had a rehabilitation cell, which used to assist sick MSMEs in rehabilitation. Banks should revive the cell. Rehabilitation assistance by banks should be made mandatory, he said. — Special Correspondent
