Modasa blast: one held in Bihar
Special Correspondent
AHMEDABAD: In a joint operation with the Bihar police, a team of the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a person from Banka district in Bihar in connection with the Modasa bomb blast. The ATS sources said 27-year-old Allarakha was arrested on the basis of sketches prepared by the police drawing on eyewitness accounts. The September 29 blast in the minority-dominated Modasa town in Sabarkantha district in the State, killed two persons and injured over six.
According to police, Allarakha’s father admitted that his son was away in Himmatnagar, the district headquarters of Sabarkantha, last year, first as a student in a local madrasa where he became a teacher later. Allarakha was missing since the blast.
ATS sources claim that the arrest, the first in connection with the Modasa blast, was a major breakthrough, particularly because the needle of suspicion was on a Hindu militant organisation.
The Modasa blast occurred around the same time and on the same day as the Malegaon explosion.
