Folk dances to light up show

CHENNAI: A host of interesting programmes and performances have been lined up for Monday as part of Chennai Sangamam.

Naiyandimelam, karagattam, kavadiattam, devarattam, silambattam, udukkai, chenda melam, silambattam, oyilattam, kalari, kaliyalattam, thudumbattam, bommalattam, kummi, villu paattu, kokkili kattaiattam, madattam, poikal kudhirai, singara sendai and folk songs will be held at 5 p.m. at Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore, Natesan Park in T.Nagar, Sivan Park in K.K. Nagar, Periyar playground in Valasaravakkam, Tower Park, Anna Nagar; Ashok Nagar Park; Elliots Beach; Thiru Vi Ka Park in Shenoy Nagar; Anna Park in Royapuram; Independence Day Park, Valluvar Kottam; East Coast Road, Palavakkam; Lady Wellington School, Triplicane; Kodambakkam playground; Thiru Vi Ka Nagar School playground, Perambur; Cantonment Playground, Pallavaram.

Carnatic music programmes

At 7 p.m. Carnatic music programmes will be held at many of the above mentioned locations.

At the Periyar playground in Valasarawakkam Lawrence Raghavendra will present a dance programme at 7 p.m. ‘Valli Kalyanam’ drama will be staged at Thiru Vi Ka Nagar School, Perambur at 7 p.m.

At the Tower Park in Anna Nagar a Salsa dance performance will be held at 8.15 p.m. and at Thiru Vi Ka Park, Shenoy Nagar, Therukoothu will be organised at 8.15 p.m.

From 8.15 p.m., ‘Gramiya Nadanam’ will be held at Natesan Park and Sivan Park.

On all the days of Chennai Sangamam, traditional music programme by students of Government Music College would be presented at 6 a.m.

It will be followed by a Carnatic vocal concert from 6.30 a.m.

Change

The performance of Carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashri which was to be held at the Thiru Vi Ka Park, Shenoy Nagar, on Monday at 7.15 p.m. is cancelled since the artiste is indisposed. A concert of Master Kundrakudi M. Balamuralikrishna will be held instead, the organisers said.
