BELLARY: The city corporation, in a joint effort with the district administration, on Monday started clearing encroachments on government land on either side of the main roads in Bellary city. This drive has been undertaken in order to widen and improve roads here. On Monday, encroachments on Hospet Road between the Durgamma temple and SP Circle were cleared. This area was surveyed earlier and portions to be knocked off were marked. Some building owners were already seen demolishing compound walls that had come up within the marked area. Five earthmovers were pressed into action. Ministerial supervisionHealth Minister B. Sriramulu visited the spot to oversee the process. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner B.
