2,924 challans issued for traffic violations

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Traffic Police on Monday issued 2,924 challans to motorists in different parts of the Capital as part of a drive against violation of road safety rules.
In North Delhi and North-West Delhi, the police zeroed in on erring two-wheeler drivers, whereas action was taken against improper parking at Kotwali, Chandni Cho-wk and Nehru Place. In West Delhi, Blueline buses and heavy vehicles were fined.
In all, 132 challans were issued against Blueline buses, 553 against three-wheelers, 210 against two-wheelers and 98 against heavy vehicles.
Apart from 18 jaywalkers, action was taken against 636 vehicles for improper parking, another 819 for red-light jumping and 173 vehicles for Stop-line violation.
