TDP stages dharna

Staff Reporter

MACHILIPATNAM: Telugu Desam (TDP) leaders and activists began an indefinite sit-in protest in front of the Collectorate here on Monday, demanding that the State Government purchase from the farmers the paddy discoloured because of the heavy unseasonable rains.

The TDP activists, led by party leaders, staged a sit-in protest from 4.30 p.m. onwards. Finding fault with the Government for instructing the officials to purchase the paddy that had discolouration up to 25 per cent, they demanded that the paddy with a discolouration of up to 50 per cent should be purchased.
