Tuticorin: The next round of polio immunisation programme will be conducted on February 1, 2009. Collector R. Palaniyandi said here on Thursday that over 1,000 booths would be set up at various places to administer drops to as many as 1.65 lakh children in coordination with various departments and non-government organisations. Keeping in mind the rumour during the previous drive last year, a special care would be taken to disseminate necessary information regarding polio drops and all medical experts would be put on alert at primary health centres, he said. Health Department officials would create awareness of polio immunisation at gram sabha meetings at all 408 village panchayats, Dr. Palaniyandi said. S. Uma, Deputy Director, Health Services, was present.
