An appeal to people to develop a spirit of tolerance, understanding and appreciation of languages and cultures other than their own was made by Dr. K.L. Shrimali, Union Minister for Education, when he released the sixth volume of the Tamil Encyclopaedia in Madras on January 16. The 770-page volume contains short notes under 1,285 headings on various subjects relating to arts, science and literature, contributed by 243 scholars, and containing suitable illustrations.
