Plight of Gazans

K.S. Dakshina Murthy’s article ‘The world abandons the Gazans’ (Jan. 14) made sad reading. It is highly condemnable that the Israeli aggression has claimed more than 1,000 lives and the same has not been condemned by the world adequately. All the more incongruous is the silence of fellow Arab governments. Though the United Nations and France have condemned the excessive use of force, a strong backing by the U.S. has further emboldened Israel to launch ground offensive in Gaza.

Those who clamour for human rights should think of the nearly 300 children who have been killed in the latest offensive. The apathy to such inhuman aggression is shameful, to say the least.

J. Anantha Padmanabhan,

The failure of the international community to stop Israel’s barbarity on the Gazans is condemnable. The attacks have become merely news for the rest of the world!
