BSNL to offer concessions to students

MADURAI: A range of concessions is on offer from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for those who enrol themselves for MBA and MCA courses in the distance education mode of Bharathiar University from Madurai, Theni and Dindigul districts.

The concessions from BSNL include a discount of Rs. 500 for a new landline, WLL or broadband connection; a CallNow card with a face value of Rs. 500 for existing customers and a recharge or top-up coupon worth Rs. 562 for mobile prepaid connections. These will be in addition to discounts on course fee offered by Bharathiar University and its distance education study centre, Shresta Academy, here.

The fee concession ranges from 10.5 to 30 per cent. For every enrolment, a mobile lifetime prepaid card, ‘Tamil Nadu Anant,’ will also be offered free. Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University G. Thiruvasagam, who signed a memorandum of understanding with the BSNL General Manager, Madurai, V. K. Sanjeevi, here on Friday, announced that the scheme would be extended throughout the State in a month’s time by signing MoUs with the BSNL authorities in other areas. Hailing the MoU as a novel initiative, Mr. Sanjeevi said that it would provide the required support for Bharathiar University distance education students.
