Undertrial escapes

NAMAKKAL: Two police personnel were placed under suspension for dereliction of duty here.

Police said Chinraj (43), who was arrested by the Namakiripet police in connection to theft cases, was admitted to Salem Government Medical College Hospital after he fell ill.

He escaped from the hospital on Thursday.

Superintendent of Police Vidya Kulkarni suspended two constables Gopal and Periyasamy, who were given the charge of guarding the undertrial at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Salem city police launched a man hunt for the undertrial.
