Deemed varsity status for Chennai college
NEW DELHI: The Union Human Resource Development Ministry, on the advice of the University Grants Commission (UGC), has granted Deemed-to-be-University status to B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Engineering College in Chennai for five years subject to certain conditions.
The institute, run by a Trust, the All India Islamic Foundation, Chennai, will also have a new name -- B.S. Abdur Rahman Institute of Science and Technology. Presently the college is affiliated to Anna University. The Deemed-to-be-University status will be reviewed by a UGC expert committee after five years. — Special Correspondent
