Pioneer bets on new generation of drivers

NEW DELHI: Japan’s Pioneer Corporation on Friday launched its new range of car audio systems in India and announced plans to clock Rs. 500 crore revenues in the next three years. “We are betting big on India. It is the right time to introduce our products as we believe that the sales of auto will improve in another six months time,” said Pioneer India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. Managing Director Takashi Yoshida.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Yoshida said: “Today’s generation of drivers are continually looking for different ways to bring their home entertainment experience into the car and Pioneer audio products aim to satisfy this customer need through innovative technology that is relevant to this need. In home electronics business too, we will continue market research to start sales activities according to market demand.”

Keeping in mind the peculiarities of the Indian consumer, five of the six new models come with a protective dust cover.

The film cover is designed specially to act as a shield against dust particles from the environment. Two of the six models also boast of a large electronic display, he added. Pioneer Corporation will soon launch its first retail outlet at neighbouring Gurgaon.

Stating that the company plans to have a significant share in the Rs. 1,200-crore domestic car audio market, Mr. Yoshida said: “We will be introducing more products in this category in India this year. We hope we will be among the major players in the segment and have a significant share in the next three years.” The company has roped in Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor as its brand ambassador.
