Competitions for Republic Day

ONGOLE: The Prakasam district administration has decided to conduct competitions in classical and folk dances, dance based on patriotic songs, essay writing and literature on the eve of Republic Day.

Speaking to newspersons here on Saturday, district Collector K Devanand said that anybody from Prakasam district can participate in the competitions without any age restriction. Winners in each category would be given a prize money of Rs. 10,000 and runners-up Rs. 5,000. Third prize in each category is Rs. 2,500.

Applications should reach Kondaiah, Administrative Officer, District Rural Development Agency, Pragati Bhavan, Ongole before Jan 20. The topic for essay writing is development achieved in the last five years by Prakasam district. Information on the subject can be had from newspapers and statistics from District Planning Officer, Prakasam bhavan.

The essays should reach Mr Kondaiah by Jan 20. In literature category, writers can send their contributions published in the last two years. Competitions will be held in classical dance at Ambedkar bhavan on Jan 21-22 and in folk dances on Jan 23-24 and patriotic dances on Jan 25.
