Cops looking for another property dealer CDs with details of applicants taken from DDA for probe NEW DELHI: At least two persons, including a chartered accountant, are being interrogated by the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police in connection with alleged attempts to procure flats under the DDA Housing Scheme-2008 against bogus applications. Though senior officers remained tight-lipped about details of the investigation, it is learnt that Manish Kumar, a chartered accountant, is being questioned by the EOW sleuths in Delhi and Alok Kumar, an accountant, is being interrogated at Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan. The police suspect that Manish helped the property dealers in procuring loan for applications and Alok arranged for forged documents to acquire PAN cards. The police are looking for another property dealer, Suresh Kumar alias Surender Singh, who had allegedly gone to Jhunjhunu to collect the documents of several locals for submitting the forms under the Scheduled Tribes category. Four persons, including a retired DDA employee M. L. Gautam, have already been arrested in connection with the fraud. The EOW is also planning to send teams to Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand to track down those on whose names applications had been submitted. Also, CDs containing details of over 5.67 lakh applicants have reportedly been taken from the DDA for further examination. Meanwhile, a local court sent Raju Ram, a property dealer arrested for his alleged role in the scam, to 14 days’ judicial custody on Saturday. The police told the court that the money given by Raju Ram to Deepak Kumar, an accused, to submit applications on his behalf was taken on loan and he claimed to be a victim of this conspiracy. Raju Ram was arrested at the instance of Deepak Kumar, a law graduate who is another accused in the case, at Dwarka here on Thursday. Deepak had purportedly told the police that Raju Ram had paid Rs.9 lakh to him and Gautam to submit forms on his behalf.
