Bangalore: Recognition of the contribution of film-makers such as the late N. Lakshminarayan is always essential, irrespective of whether they had set a new tradition, writer N. Manu Chakravarthy has said. Prof. Chakravarthy was speaking at the release of his book on well-known director Lakshminarayan here on Saturday. The book has been brought by the Suchitra Cinema and Cultural Academy on the occasion of the third edition of the Bengalooru International Film Festival. Explaining the perspective development of the late director from the Rajkumar-starrer “Naandi” to “Bettada Hoovu,” where Puneet Rajkumar played the lead role, Prof. Chakravarthy said that of the six films of Lakshminarayan, “Abachoorina Post Office” stood out. Photo exhibition An exhibition of photographs on the history of 75 years of Kannada cinema and homage to several film-makers, including R.N. Jayagopal, M.P. Shankar and K.V. Jayarammarked the third day of the weeklong Biffes.
