NEW DELHI: A six-day quadrennial event on printing and packaging technology titled “Printpack India-2009” opens at Pragati Maidan here this Sunday. Organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation in collaboration with Indian Printing Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers’ Association, the fair will see participation of over 380 leading companies from India, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, China, The Netherlands and United Arab Emirates. Addressing a press conference here over the weekend, ITPO Chairperson and Managing Director Sheela Bhide said: “Apart from emerging as a major tour de force among ITPO’s calendar of fairs, this quadrennial event offers a one-stop competitive sourcing point for printing and packaging equipment and machinery with world-class technology as their benchmark. Over the years, this event has attracted buyers from across the globe. Despite the inhibiting global economic meltdown, the latest event is an attestation of the health of the industry and its robust commercial aspirations.” Stating that the event would showcase the best of Indian graphic arts industry in all segments of printing, packaging and converting, Dr. Bhide said it would feature innovative developments with novel solutions keeping in mind cost effectiveness and time saving devices in the production line. “The fair also highlights cross-industry digitalisation, automation in the classical printing methods and digital printing solutions. A surfeit of computer solutions will be on display with live demonstrations related to pre-press, in-press and post-press operations in printing and packaging,” she added. Dr. Bhide pointed out that the increase in literary levels across the country had also contributed to the growth of print and packaging industry. A seminar on “Latest Trend in Printing Technology” will be held on January 21. The fair will also give a platform to small scale manufacturers as they will put up over 140 stalls. The fair, to be held at Hall No.2 to 12 A of the sprawling exhibition ground, will cover a broad canvas relating to pre-press, in-press (printing), binding, finishing, packaging and converting categories.
