Telangana short films contest

KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar Film Society, in collaboration with Discover Telangana, a USA-based non-profit organisation, will be organising ‘Film Telangana 2009’ a short film competition on Telangana history, culture, resources, people, Telangana movement and other local issues etc.

Disclosing this to newsmen, Karimnagar Film Society advisor and MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao said that they were organising the film competition to protect ancient history, culture and traditions of Telangana region. He said that the competitions were being held with the support of Telangana NRI Association (TeNA), Detroit Telugu literary Association and others.

Film society president V. Anand said that the competitions would be held in two categories of short films under five minutes (minimum one minute to five minutes) and short films under 30 minutes ( minimum 10 minutes to 30 minutes). Only digital formats will be accepted — .AVI, .MPEG, .WMI, .MOV formats — which would be uploaded on the website (http://filmtelangana.com).

He said that prizes worth a total of Rs. 2 lakh would be given to the best short films on various topics. The first prizes include Rs. 50,000, second prize Rs. 25,000, special jury prize Rs. 25,000 and special student prize of Rs. 25,000 for both 5 minutes and 30 minutes films.

The last date for submitting entries is February 28 along with Rs. 500 entry fee at the Karimnagar Film Society, Film Bhavan in Karimnagar town.
