13 ITIs will be started Seven ITIs will be upgraded KOZHIKODE: Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan has said that four new trades will be started at the Beypore Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in the next academic year. He was inaugurating the newly sanctioned ITI at Beypore, near here, on Saturday. The institute has started with two trades. Mr. Gurudasan said human resource needed for the State’s growth should be developed here itself. Technology was developing at a rapid pace and training should be given in new trades to keep up with the changing times. Else, experts from outside the State should be brought here to aid development. But that would boost the estimate for development activities quite considerably, he said. A total of 13 ITIs will be started. The status of seven ITIs will be upgraded. A total of 374 posts were created following the setting up of the ITIs, he said. Industries Minister Elamaram Karim presided over the function. The new ITI will function from the second floor of the shopping centre at the bus stand in Beypore grama panchayat. A new building will be built for the ITI at the industrial estate of the panchayat soon. Training director Sumana N. Menon presented the report.
