Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Working president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday declared that the Congress would like to nominate Karnataka Rakshana Vedike president T.A. Narayana Gowda to the State Legislative Council.

Participating in the valedictory of the World Kannada Awareness Convention here, Mr. Shivakumar said Mr. Gowda had been striving for the cause of the Kannada language.

The Congress would like to nominate Mr. Gowda to the Legislative Council so that the voice of Kannada lovers resonated in the Vidhana Soudha. He appealed to Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to withdraw all the cases booked by the police against Kannada activists during agitations to protect the language of the land.
