Bishop Heber triumphs

TIRUCHI: Bishop Heber College defeated Urumu Dhanalakshmi College by six wickets to win the title at the Tiruchi DCA Golden Jubilee inter-collegiate Twenty20 cricket tournament here.

The scores: Final: Urumu Dhanalakshmi College 84 for eight in 18 overs (M. Albert 32 not out, A. G. Logeshselvan four for 10) lost to Bishop Heber College 87 for four in 17 overs (G. Sivaraj two for 20).

Semifinals: National Institute of Technology 101 for seven in 20 overs (R. Kamalakannan two for 12) lost to Bishop Heber 103 for four in 14.3 overs (J. Sudhakar 45); Urumu Dhanalakshmi 118 for five in 19 overs (K. Manikandan 37, G. Sivaraj 35 not out, M. Sathish Kumar four for 18) bt St. Joseph’s College 82 for eight in 19 overs (Sakthivel three for 16, Sathish Kumar two for 22).

Rock Fort BBC ‘A’ posts win

Rock Fort BBC ‘A’ defeated Old Boys BBC 29-9, 29-15 to win the title at the Tiruchi district senior ball badminton championship here in Tiruchi Sunday.

The results: Final: Rock Fort BBC ‘A’ bt Old Boys BBC 29-9, 29-15. Semifinals: Rock Fort BBC ‘A’ bt Jamal Mohammed College 26-29, 29-8, 29-8; Old Boys BBC bt Rock Fort BBC ‘B’ 29-16, 29-25.

Chess tournament

Muthuvivekanandan shines

M.S. Muthuvivekanandan struck 142 as Sam Babu XI defeated Mansur Youngsters 110 runs in a Dindigul DCA first division league cricket match in Dindigul.
