Mumbai: Gujarat off-spinner Mohnish Parmar has been barred from playing in the Duleep Trophy tournament. Unfavourable reports of a series of tests conducted at the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS), Canberra, last December has compelled the BCCI to instruct the West Zone selectors not to consider the 20-year-old off-spinner in the team for the inter-zonal tournament. With 41 wickets at 19.53, Parmar was the second highest wicket-taker in the recently-concluded Ranji Trophy competition behind Dhawal Kukrani and Ravindra Jadeja. Parmar would be asked to undergo a rehabilitation programme soon. The West Zone selectors on Monday picked Mumbai off-spinner Ramesh Powar (34 wickets in the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy) and Baroda left-arm spinner Rajesh Pawar as the two specialist spinners for the semifinal match against East Zone to be played at the Brabourne Stadium, Cricket Club of India, here from January 29 to February 1. The team: Wasim Jaffer (Capt.), Parthiv Patel, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Kedar Jadhav, Ajay Shrikande, Bhavik Thakkar, Abhishek Nayar, Dhawal Kulkarni, Siddharth Trivedi, Samad Fallah, Ramesh Powar, Rajesh Pawar, Azhar Bilakia, Ajitesh Argal.
