Ombudsman directive to panchayat

KOCHI: Ombudsman for Local Self-government Institutions, M.R. Hariharan Nair, has directed the secretary of the Thrikkakkara grama panchayat to submit a copy of the audit report pertaining to the functioning of Kudumbasree within the panchayat limits.

The order comes in a case that the Ombudsman took suo motu following media reports that there was large-scale defalcation of funds in the operation of Kudumbasree.

Besides, the panchayat secretary, the case has six other respondents.

The Ombudsman has directed all seven respondents to file a statement on the allegations during the next sitting scheduled to be held on February 11.
