Woman’s ears injured when relieved of diamond studs
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: A construction worker snatched two diamond studs from an elderly woman causing bleeding injuries on her ears at Jafferkahnpet in the city on Monday.
According to police sources, Padmalochani (60) had engaged four construction workers from Andhra Pradesh to carry out repair works on the ground floor of her house.
Around 3 p.m. on Monday, one of the workers entered the first floor and forced the woman into a bathroom.
And then, the worker stuffed her mouth with a piece of cloth in order to restrain her from raising an alarm.
Even as she was trying to wriggle out of his grip and escape, the accused snatched her studs and gold chain and fled away.
She was admitted to the Government General Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital where her condition was said to be stable.
“The accused is native of Nellore. A special team has been formed to investigate the case,” the Joint Commissioner of Police (South), A.M.C. Gunaseelan, said.
The Kumaran Nagar police have registered a case of robbery.
