There are 191 scanning centres in the district Dialysis machine sanctioned for GGH GUNTUR: Joint Collector Kantilal Dande has instructed officers of the medical and health department to intensify surprise checks on scanning centres and report violations under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act. Review meetAddressing a review meeting on the implementation of PNDT Act and district advisory meeting here on Tuesday, he said there were 191 scanning centres in the district and each of them periodically inspected and cases should be booked for any violations under the PNDT Act. While pointing out that no oral or written complaint had been received on the violation of the PNDT Act, he said the State Government has recently agreed to employ decoy customers to find out the centres, which have been disclosing the sex of the foetus and an amount of Rs. 5,000 had been sanctioned for the purpose. He said the district and sub district authorities had inspected 30 centres and some of the institutions and super speciality hospitals have also been sealed for failing to get the registration renewed. The seal was removed only after a penalty which was five times the registration fees was paid to the concerned authorities. He appealed to all registered bodies to maintain a permanent record in Form-F to record the particulars of each patient scanned and keep the record for two years. All the registered bodies should also send reports of scanning to the office of the District Medical and Health Officer. District Medical and Health Officer Suresh Kumar said checks would be intensified and if necessary, the help of police would be sought. Officials of the medical department and representatives from some NGOs were present.Minister for Transport Kanna Lakshmi Narayana on Monday got a dialysis machine sanctioned for the Government General Hospital here by talking to the Principal Secretary Health. The Minister had come to the hospital to call on Cherukupalem Sarpanch M. Nageswara Rao and at that time Hospital Superintendent D. Phanibhushan told him about the need.
