Nalgonda emerges champion

HYDERABAD: Nalgonda defeated Nizamabad 2-0 in the final of senior inter-district hockey championship for men at the DSA Stadium in Nalgonda on Tuesday, according to information received here.

Kiran Prasad converted a penalty-corner in the third minute to give the host an early lead. In the second session, Mohd Shafiuddin capitalised on a defensive lapse in a goalmouth melee to find the target.

Easy for SBH

State Bank of Hyderabad recorded a 2-0 win over Bharat Dynamics Ltd in the super league of the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship at Gymkhana Grounds here.

Bankmen took lead in the 42nd minute when midfielder Zaki trapped a neat pass from the left flank by Akbar Abidi to find the target.

In the second session, SBH scored the second goal when Mohd Fareed lobbed the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Dawood.
