Instrument Landing System for Srinagar

NEW DELHI: The Centre will install Instrument Landing System at the Srinagar and Jammu airports at the earliest. Union Minister for Water Resources Saifuddin Soz said he got this assurance from Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel during a meeting on Wednesday.
Mr. Patel agreed that the ILS would help in the operation of evening flights from both airports and in bad weather, especially during winter.
Flight to Jeddah
After sorting out the matter with Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Mr. Patel would announce the decision at the inauguration of the Srinagar airport on February 14, Mr. Soz said. Mr. Patel said he would complete the formalities for the operation of direct flights from Srinagar to Jeddah from the day of inauguration.
