Filmstars to attend anti-terror campaign

KOCHI: Bollywood actors Shilpa Shetty and John Abraham and Tamil filmstars Vijay and Vikram will be in the city on Monday, along with host of film personalities and cricketers, to attend the launch of ‘Aspirations’, a campaign against terrorism.

The campaign, spearheaded by the City Police and sponsored by the leading builders SRK Group and Idea Mobile, is part of an effort by the police to refurbish its image and to reach out to the community at large.

The campaign launch will feature a large number of Malayalam actors, including top stars Mammootty and Mohanlal.

Sources said here Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi had also confirmed participation. The police will put in place an anti-terror intelligence mechanism.

There will be a 24-hour dedicated anti-alert mobile phone which the city folks can use to tip off the police on any suspicious act or person. The mobile number is 96560-00100.

The launch ceremony, to be held on Monday evening, will be held at Ambedkar Stadium near the KSRTC bus stand.
