TIRUCHI: An aura of carnival enveloped city theatres screening Vijay’s Villu on Friday what with the hero himself visiting the theatres to celebrate the success of the flick.

As Vijay stepped into the cinema hall, the joy of his fans knew no bounds. Their rapturous applause got accelerated whenever Vijay waved his hands. Cameras flashed endlessly and Vijaywas surrounded by a sea of fans. Police had a tough time controlling them.

“I thank you for the support. But for you people, Villu wouldn’t have been a grand success. I am happy that the film has risen up to your expectations and am looking forward to more successes in the future,” said Vijay, as the theatre hall reverberated with whistles and hoots.

Winning combination

Two years ago, Prabhu Deva –Vijay combination did wonders at the box office through Pokkiri. And the actor’s die-hard fans believe that Villu will be a much bigger hit.

“The film is already doing well in Tiruchi and Vijay’s visit will certainly help more,” said R.K. Raja, president of Tiruchi District Vijay Fans’ Welfare Association.

Over the years, Vijay has enthralled the audience with his dancing prowess.

But the actor is also adept at singing. And when the fans requested him to sing, he obliged and sang the rocking number ‘Rama Rama …’ from ‘Villu.’

Equally rocking was the applause from the fans.
