Collector distributes welfare assistance

Receives petitions from public; tells officials to take action within 15 days

For the needy: Collector V.K. Shanmugam distributing welfare assistance to a woman at the mass contact programme at Chettipalli village in Krishnagiri district.

KRISHNAGIRI: Collector V.K. Shanmugam distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 21.84 lakh to 72 persons at the mass contact programme held in Chettipalli village, Bargur union, on Wednesday.

Schemes

Presiding over the programme, he said the government was providing prenatal and post natal assistance to women under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Memorial Scheme, vaccination to babies, free books, notes and uniforms to school students and marriage assistance under the Moovalur Ramamirdham Ammaiyar Memorial Scheme among others.

He received 158 petitions from the public demanding drinking water, road, patta, family card, old age pension, electricity, bus facility and employment.

Process

The Collector asked the department heads to process the petitions and give reply to the petitioners within 15 days.

Prior to the mass contact programme, he received 80 petitions from the residents of Chettipalli and surrounding villages of which 67 petitions were considered for taking action.

As part of the programme, an exhibition was conducted by the Department of Information and Public Relations and Noon Meal at the venue.

Bargur Union Chairman V.G. Rajendran and Pancahayt president Malar participated.
