Seven corporate institutes to impart vocational training

CHENNAI: Beginning next week, seven corporate training institutes will start imparting vocational training skills to school leavers, existing workers and ITI graduates to improve their employability, according to Manikam Ramaswami, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry, Tamil Nadu State Council (CII-TNSC).

Consolidated Construction Consortium and National Academy of Construction will offer training in the construction sector, Lakshmi Machine Works in engineering, Saint Gobain Glass in logistics, TV Sundram Iyengar & Sons in automotive and logistics, Loyal Textile Mills in garments and CavinKare in retails and beautician.

Addressing newspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Ramaswami said that though there were several tailor-made courses in the offing, training would be imparted as per the industry requirements. The average cost of three months course was Rs. 5,900 a person.
