Diamond trader Bharat Shah gets bail

MUMBAI: Overruling a metropolitan court order, a sessions court here on Friday granted bail to diamond trader and film financer Bharat Shah on a Rs. 30,000-bond.

The bail is subject to the condition that Mr. Shah appear before the Silvassa court on or before February 2, said his lawyer I.A. Bagadia.

Mr. Shah was arrested on Thursday after a non-bailable warrant was issued by a court in Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. He faces charges of fraud, breach of trust and misappropriation of assets in a case registered against a company, Vishal Chairs.

The sessions court held that the lower court had overlooked the fact that requisite paperwork was not submitted, said Mr. Bagadia.
