New Delhi: Seventeen Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, including two officers posted in the Naxal-affected Chhattisgarh, have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry. While Ram Charitra, Commandant, 31 battalion, and Sanjeev Sharma, Commandant, sixth battalion, of the paramilitary force have been conferred the award for their bravery, two Deputy Commandants (DC) have also been awarded in the same category. The other personnel from the world’s largest paramilitary – the CRPF – dealing with left-wing extremism in Naxal-affected States, insurgency in the northeast and militancy in Jammu and Kashmir include Alok Kumar Srivastava (DC) 119 Bn, Vikram Singh Bisht (DC) 27 Bn, P.R. Mishra (AC) 22 Bn, Jai Bhagwan (Retd. SI), Chandra Ballabh (Retd. SI), Surender Kumar (Retd. SI). The others who are to receive the prestigious award are Rajesh Kumar Yadav (Inspector) 113 Bn, R.P. Shukla (HC) 89 Bn, Ajay Kumar Bag (constable) 117 Bn, Pawan Kumar (constable), Naresh Pal constable (131 Bn), Sanjiv Kumar constable (71 Bn), Ajay Bhan Singh constable (101 Bn), Raman Goud constable (83 Bn). – PTI
