Committed to peacefully resolving all issues: Gilani

Nirupama Subramanian

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has sent Republic Day greetings to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, reiterating his government’s commitment to peacefully resolve “all outstanding issues” between the two countries.

R-Day felicitations

According to the text of the message released by Mr. Gilani’s office, the Prime Minister sent felicitations for Republic Day and said he took “this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to resolve peacefully all outstanding issues between the two countries to usher in an era of peace, progress and prosperity for the people of the subcontinent.”

Earlier, speaking at a public meeting in Multan, the Prime Minister said Pakistan would take “the whole world, India and the people of Pakistan into confidence” about the results of its own investigations into the Mumbai attacks.

He also repeated his government’s oft-stated resolve not to allow anyone to use the country’s soil for terrorism “no matter how strong the individual or entity may be.”
