looking for clues: Uttar Pradesh police and Anti-Terrorism Squad officials checking the spot where two armed terrorists were killed in an encounter in Noida on Sunday. At right, officials search the vehicle used by the terrorists. NOIDA: The weapons seized from the two terrorists killed in the encounter indicated that the two could belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba. But senior officers said a correct picture would emerge only after completion of the inquiry. “We are probing what the terrorists were up to and who were their local contacts,” said Noida SSP Naveen Arora. “The number plate of the car belongs to a scooter registered in the name of a Ghaziabad resident. The car’s engine and chassis number had been erased,” said SHO (Sector-39) Anil Samania. Later in the day, the police detained four persons for questioning . “Four persons have been picked up from different parts of Noida on suspicion and are being questioned. However, nothing substantial has emerged so far,” an officer said. PTI adds: When asked whether the UP Police had got any information from the Central intelligence agencies in this regard, UP Additional DGP Brij Lal said in Lucknow, ‘though we are always in touch with these agencies, it was totally an operation of the UP Police”.
