Correspondent

BHUBANESWAR: Exhibiting the tribal tradition and culture of the State, the week-long State-level adivasi mela got under way at the Adivasi Exhibition Ground here on Monday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the event that is being hosted by the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Development Department.

Tribal Welfare Minister Chaitanya Prasad Majhi and Development Commissioner Tarunkanti Mishra were present on the occasion.

Major attraction

All the 25 Integrated Tribal Development Agencies of the State, scores of self-help groups and non-governmental organisations engaged in tribal welfare activities in different regions of Orissa are participating in the fair that draws huge crowd every year.

A major attraction of the fair has been models of tribal villages and huts that gives the curious urban viewers an idea about the tribal-style, said the hosts.
