Burrayya puts Cavaliers in the final

VISAKHAPATNAM: Leg-spinner K. Burrayya’s six-wicket haul propelled Cavaliers CC to an eight-wicket win over East Coast Railway Sports Association in the semifinals of the 16th annual The Hindu Trophy tournament at the Ukku stadium here on Monday.

Burrayya and M. Dinesh Kumar (three for 19) restricted the Railway team to 112. Cavaliers knocked off the required runs with M. Chidambareswara Rao (58 n.o., 11x4) and P. Raghu (54, 8x8) in good nick. This will be Cavaliers’ first appearance in the final.

The final between Cavaliers and Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council will be held at the Port stadium on Wednesday.

The scores: East Coast Railway Sports Association 112 in 31.2 overs (K. Burrayya six for 27) lost to Cavaliers CC 116 for two in 15.3 overs (M. Chidambareswara Rao 58 n.o., P. Raghu 54). — Special Correspondent
