Hold elections, Fiji told

WELLINGTON: The Pacific Islands Forum leaders told Fiji on Tuesday that it must hold elections by the end of this year. In a statement following a one-day meet in Port Moresby, capital of Papua New Guinea, they gave Fiji a deadline of May 1 to announce an election date. The leaders met to decide on further action against Fiji which broke the promise it made to the forum in 2007 to hold elections by March. — Xinhua
